ACP Research Award for Pathologists in Training 2019 The Association of Clinical Pathologists is keen to promote research undertaken by members who are at an early stage of their careers. The Council of the Association awards an annual prize of £500 for the best paper in any pathological discipline presented by a trainee member. Submissions are invited of written papers of interest to clinical pathologists which may take one of the following forms: a paper which has been published in the twelve month period prior to the closing date a paper which may either be in press, submitted for publication or prepared but not yet submitted for publication a discursive article summarising a cohesive body of research work carried out by the candidate (i.e. NOT a general review article) The Research Prize paper should be submitted for publication in whatever Journal the candidate chooses via the usual refereeing procedures; they may wish to consider the Journal of Clinical Pathology. The prize will be awarded on the recommendation of a panel of adjudicators from all disciplines of Clinical Pathology. They will usually include the Chairman and appropriate members of the Education Committee, together with the Meetings Secretary. Work that has been carried out by more than the individual applicant must be accompanied by a statement of the extent of the contribution made by the applicant. Joint work is fully acceptable provided that a substantial part of the work and its initiation was carried out by the candidate. Others involved in the project, e.g. a senior supervisor, must indicate their approval in writing. Only one entry per member is permitted in any one year. The award will not normally be given to the same person in successive years. Entries for this prize must be submitted before 1 April 2019.
